Coplay: Event will honor former mayor
The eighth annual borough Christmas party will honor the life and legacy of the late Steve Burker, former mayor, Dec. 6 at the pavilion at American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St. Doors open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Deejay Freddy Frederick will entertain 5-7 p.m., and Subject To Changes plays 7-10 p.m.
The bar will be open for beer, red and white wine, rum and vodka (no bring your own).
A basket raffle is also part of the event.
There is a cost. Purchase tickets at Samuel Owens Restaurant and Bar, Coplay Eatery, Reph’s Complete Auto and borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.

Reminder: Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association has its annual Christmas tree lighting set for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Coplay Municipal Building, 98 S. Fourth St. Tom Yurasits Productions will have a brand-new magic and illusion show. Meet and greet Santa Claus, who never misses this event.
The event promises to be spectacular with Christmas magic!

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., will sponsor its annual Silvester Feier New Year’s Eve celebration 3-7 p.m. Dec. 31 in the social hall.
Ring in the New Year 6 p.m. (midnight in Vienna)!
The event includes a 3 p.m. hot meal and music 4-7 p.m. by the Emil Schanta Band. There will be a buffet, beer, wine, soda, water and juice. Cake with coffee will be served 5 p.m., and there will be hats and noisemakers with a Champagne toast 6 p.m.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month. If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.
The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.
