Catasauqua: Thrift shop will be closed Nov. 28-30

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will be closed Nov. 28-30 for Thanksgiving. The shop will reopen Dec. 2.

Regular thrift shop hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The store volunteers are happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing, household items and toys during regular store hours. Proceeds from the shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

The Biery House Holiday Shoppe, 8 Race St., will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 29, for some Black Friday shopping, and Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Stop by for unique homemade gifts and home decor from more than 50 crafters.

Parking is in the rear, so enter from Union Street. For directions, enter 5 W. Union St., Catasauqua, in your GPS.

Proceeds benefit Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association and Mrs. Nothstein’s Helping Hands.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., reminds all to watch out for Warm-up Wednesday, a free soup event, which will start the week after Thanksgiving.

This weekly event will be not just for the congregation of Holy Trinity but for the Catasauqua community at large.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., will hold Christmas bingo Dec. 8 in the parish center. Doors and kitchen open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.

The cost includes 15 games, six specials and one jackpot round. Bring your daubers but no hardboards.

To keep the cost low, no outside food drinks are permitted. The kitchen will be selling St. Mary’s favorites.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church is sponsoring a braised beef wine dinner Dec. 14 at the church.

There are four seatings — 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The menu consists of braised beef in wine, creme fraiche mashed potatoes, carrots, garden salad, roll with butter and chocolate mousse. Coffee, tea, iced tea and water will also be available.

The reservation deadline is Dec. 8. There are only 100 seatings available, and this is for dine-in only. Contact Lynn at 610-264-2026 for reservations.

Cost is by donation. All proceeds benefit Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors.
