MAMA’S MUSINGS By Lani Goins
Mystery headaches suck. I had one recently. It was on a Friday, after a heck of a rough week. I usually take my medications right after I eat breakfast. I was brushing my teeth when I realized I was not sure if I took the medications. Whoops! By the time I got to work, the headache was blooming. It was bad by the afternoon.
What was really bad was I wasn’t sure what caused it. I knew someone I work closely with was sick with a nasty virus. I was also wearing my backup glasses because my favored pair broke at work the day before. (Do you see a theme here?) The backup glasses were the same prescription as the other ones, but the lenses were much larger. Maybe my eyes were struggling to adjust?
Then again, I had not slept well the previous night. Maybe I was tired. I also did not drink enough liquid in the afternoon. Was I dehydrated? I had no idea.
I went home Friday afternoon and took a nap. I got up to make dinner. Then I went back to bed. Thankfully, by Saturday morning I still felt a bit off, but my head was no longer hurting so much.
Still, not knowing why my head was sore was strange. I rarely get headaches.
I managed to get the youngest kid to morning play practice. I thought I would have three hours to get things done at home. Then I get a text from the kid that there’s an 11 a.m. parent meeting. Oh well, I still managed to get some stuff done and enjoy the quiet. At least as quiet as Broad Street gets.
Nope, no idea why my head hurt so much. I made sure I took my meds on Saturday. But at least I was fairly confident I didn’t get the illness going around work. Small blessings.
I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. I will be at my daughter’s boyfriend’s parents with all my kids. That is something I am very thankful for.
