In the “Nick” of time: Lehigh Valley gets first look at Daniel Roebuck’s new holiday movie

The much-awaited feature film, “Saint Nick of Bethlehem,” spotlights a cache of historic Bethlehem and other favorite regional sites.

Based on a true story, the film also brings a message of goodwill and hope.

Produced by Hard Faith Films in association with A Channel of Peace, the new movie will land in theaters across the Lehigh Valley and North America this holiday season.

Filmed primarily in the Lehigh Valley, the collaboration gains its creative nod from Hollywood filmmakers Daniel Roebuck and Spencer Folmar, each of whom have Pennsylvania roots and a passion for storytelling.

Roebuck, a Bethlehem native and filmmaking fixture in the Lehigh Valley, is the star of hundreds of TV shows and movies, including: “The Fugitive,” “The Munsters,” “Terrifier 3,” “Lost” and “Matlock.”

In “Saint Nick of Bethlehem,” Roebuck portrays the lead role of Nick McNulty, a distraught father in grief over losing his son in a tragic accident. In a surprising turn, Nick becomes a local hero after learning a new purpose in life by presenting gifts to others to give away his grief.

Hollywood writer, film producer and author Folmar spent his formative years in central Pennsylvania, where he began directing and producing films at age 17. After receiving degrees in filmmaking and theology, he moved to Hollywood, where he produced such feature films as “Generational Sins,” “Shooting Heroin” and “Bright Sky.”

“This collaboration with Spencer is about real people in real situations when tragedy strikes and how hope and resilience can lead the human heart to the hand of God,” says Roebuck, who met Folmar in Hollywood several years ago.

“Saint Nick in Bethlehem” also stars Marsha Dietlein Bennett, Timothy E. Goodwin, Duane Whitaker, Cathy Moriarty, Jennifer Porrata, Elias Kemuel, Bradford Haynes, Stelio Savante, Kathy Patterson, Alixx Schottland, Madelyn Dundon, Coleen Volk, Lisa Hinds, Robert Savakinus, Rod Gilkeson and Brian Hoffner, plus newcomers Kinleigh Johnson, Chris Kenney and Joey Oltman.

The feature film is the fourth Lehigh Valley-lensed movie Roebuck has written, directed, produced and starred in, including “Getting Grace,” “Lucky Louie” and the upcoming “The Hail Mary.”

Lehigh Valley moviegoers will have first dibs on viewing the one-hour and 33-minute film when it kicks off as a regular engagement, Nov. 22 -30, The Roxy Theater, Northampton.
