North Catasauqua: Senior group to meet Nov. 20

Catty Seniors Plus will meet Nov. 20 at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St. The doors open noon, and the meeting starts 1 p.m.

The speaker will talk about the changes to Medicare.

This will be the last month to sign up for the Dec. 18 Christmas party luncheon, with the official deadline of Dec. 1.

If you cannot attend the November meeting, call Dorothy Vassa at 610-263-2853 to make a reservation for the holiday luncheon.

The North Catasauqua Borough office will be closed Nov. 27-29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The office will reopen Dec. 2.

Cheer on the Catasauqua High School football team at the 101st Turkey Day football game Nov. 28. The annual rivalry game will be held at Al Erdosy Field in Northampton with a scheduled 10 a.m. start.

The annual bonfire is canceled this year due to the burn ban.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., Catasauqua, will be closed for Thanksgiving Nov. 28-30 and will reopen Dec. 2.

The thrift shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The annual North Catasauqua small Town USA tree lighting is set for 6 p.m. Dec. 1 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The rain date is 6 p.m. Dec. 2.

The next North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting will be 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua, will hold a Christmas cash bingo Dec. 8. Doors and kitchen open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.

North Catasauqua and Catasauqua fire departments’ Operation Secret Santa 2024 returns again this holiday season. The fire departments will escort Santa Claus around town as he delivers gifts Dec. 15.

Note: This event is for both North Catasauqua and Catasauqua boroughs. Visits will start 10 a.m. and will continue until finished.

Registration forms and gifts may be dropped off 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 8, 6-9 p.m. Dec. 11 and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Catasauqua fire station, 90 Bridge St.

Catasauqua Community Food Bank, 527 Front St., is accepting donations. Items that are especially in need include jelly and jam, shelf-stable milk, canned soup, rice or noodle side dishes, canned fruits, dry cereals and canned vegetables.
