Egypt/Cementon: VFW plans concerts

Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road, will host concerts by Barons 3 Nov. 22, Whiskey Mansion Nov. 27, Cross Country Lines Nov. 29, Mike Sherer Dec. 5 and Whiskey Mansion Dec. 6. All concerts begin 7 p.m.

An open mic night is set for 7-9 p.m. Nov. 21. All acts are welcome. See the Post’s Facebook page for available sound equipment.

A number of events have been scheduled at Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon.

Drop by the club for a spaghetti dinner 5-8 p.m. Nov. 22, music by Subject to Changes 7-10 p.m. Nov. 23 and a concert by Alias 7-10 p.m. Dec. 13.

There is a cover charge for both concerts, which are open to the public.

Several Christmas-themed events are planned at the club. A Christmas party for children of members is set for 1-3 p.m. Dec. 7. Sign up at the club by Nov. 22.

A breakfast with Santa, planned for 8-11 a.m. Dec. 15, is open to the public.

The members’ Christmas party will take place 6-11 p.m. Dec. 20 and includes a potluck dinner.

Angel Resources Children’s New Clothing Ministry, 5246 Fairview St., Cementon, is holding a children’s clothing sale 9 a.m.-6 p.m. through Nov. 27, Mondays to Saturdays.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, invites the community to a Thanksgiving Eve service 7 p.m. Nov. 27.

The church’s youth group is selling gift cards through Dec. 1. To support this fundraiser, visit shopwithscrip.com, log in and use the code L9A248FA33862. Gift cards will be ready for pickup at the church by Dec. 8.

Additionally, the youth group is running a clothing drive. Drop off your items in the enclosed porch in the rear of the church.

Egypt Memorial Park, 4540 Hillcrest Lane, will accept new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations for Toys for Tots at the snack stand 5-7 p.m. Dec. 4.

Friends of Tomcat is collecting Christmas gift items for distribution to veterans at Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. Suggested gift items include new socks, T-shirts, puzzles, handheld games, snacks and toiletries.
