Walters V plays in state championship golf tourney

Emmaus golfer Evan Walters V finished tied for 41st place in a field of 72 of the best Pennsylvania high school golfers last week.

After finishing third in the district tournament three weeks ago, Walters V earned the right to compete at last weekend’s state meet on Penn State University’s White Course in last week’s PIAA Class 3A Championships.

Walters shot 7-over par 151 over 36 holes last Monday and Tuesday in State College.

In his first round he carded a 4-over par 75, making three birdies, four bogeys and one double bogeys to go along with 10 pars.

On the second day, the Hornet sophomore made four birdies, offset by six bogeys and one double, along with seven pars.

Carson Kittsley of Fox Chapel High School won the event at 8-under par 136 (68-68). The sophomore finished two strokes clear of a three-way tie for second place.
