Trocki ends career with three goal game

Senior Maddie Trocki scored three goals but the DeSales University field hockey fell just short in a hard fought 5-3 loss at Stevens in the MAC Freedom semifinals.

The Bulldogs see their five-game winning streak come to end as they finish the season with a 9-10 overall record.

Stevens took a 1-0 lead just 3:17 into the game on a goal from Emily Smart.

The Bulldogs needed just 4:12 to tie the score at one on Trocki’s first tally on a blast off a corner and pass from first-year Mia Carder.

The Ducks reclaimed the one goal margin just 34 seconds later and took its first two goal lead at 11:24 to finish off the first quarter scoring.

Trocki scored her second 5:56 into the second quarter to make it 3-2, but Stevens got that marker back to take a 4-2 lead into the half.

Neither team scored in the third quarter before Trocki got DeSales back within a goal in the 52nd minute off another nice pass from Carder.

Trocki finishes her season with a team-high 15 goals and ends her career with a school-record 58 goals, 26 assists, and another school-record 142 points.

Senior Maddie Trocki scored her second goal of the game with seven seconds left lifting the DeSales University field hockey team past Misericordia University, 5-4, in the MAC Freedom regular season finale.

This game was a low scoring affair tied at one thru three quarters after Trocki scored her first of two goals late in the third quarter.

DSU added goals from sophomore Megan McLain and first-year Stephanie Pallante early in the fourth quarter to take a 3-1 lead.

The Cougars got within one in the 52nd minute but senior Delani Remp scored in the 54th minute to reclaim a two goal lead (4-2).

Just 18 seconds after Remp’s goal MU got within a goal yet again and then tied the score at four in a wild fourth quarter with 1:20 left to play.

With the game seemingly headed to OT, Trocki got control of the ball in the circle and blasted a back-handed reverse stick shot that hit the back of the cage just inside the far post with seven seconds left giving DSU the dramatic win for the third straight game.
