Liberty senior tennis players Helena Lynn and Stephanie Zheng clinched bronze medals after taking third place at the PIAA Class 3A State Doubles Tennis Championships on Nov. 2 at Hershey Racquet Club.

Lynn and Zheng won their first-round match, 6-3, 6-2, against Brooke Henderson and Alexandra Merkel of Shady Side Academy, Pittsburgh.

In their quarterfinal, the Hurricane pair defeated Lower Merion’s Eden Anolik and Camille Cohen, 6-4, 6-2.

Lynn and Zheng’s semifinal match was won by Council Rock South’s Michelle Lerman and Anya Zubenko, 6-3, 6-4.

In a fight for third place, Lynn and Zheng defeated Mahi Patel and Joya Mentrikoski of Downingtown East, 6-3, 6-2.

Lerman and Zubenko were crowned state champions with their 6-2, 6-4 victory over Mount Lebanon’s Jackie Tang and Michelle Yang.
