Mack Trucks, Inc. delivers stockings for soldiers
Employees from Mack Trucks, Inc. traveled in a caravan, complete with Jack Mack, the military dump truck from Mack Defense, the restored military truck from the Mack Museum and a military hummer owned by retired engineer Mark Ford, from the Mack Experience Center, 2402 Lehigh Parkway South, Allentown to the Lehigh Valley Press office at 1633 N. 26th St., Allentown to deliver items needed to fill stockings to be sent to military personnel serving around the world who will not be home for the holidays.
The Lehigh Valley Press and its sister company Blue Ridge Communications are proud to partner with Keystone Military Families in Shoemakersville to send stockings to deployed military personnel.
KMF annually ships between 8,100 and 10,000 holiday stockings filled with food, hygiene products and other items, along with Christmas cards, to our servicemen and women stationed around the world, just in time for Christmas.
“This annual effort helps boost spirits, demonstrates our caring support and shows our troops overseas how much they are truly appreciated by all of us,” BRC Marketing/Community Relations Coordinator Cindy Mellinger said. “Without this initiative, many of our soldiers may feel forgotten during the Christmas season.”
Carol Glass, organizer of the Stockings for Soldiers collection at Mack Trucks, along with other members of the Employee Activity Committee thanked all the Mack employees, Mack retirees and friends and family for their generous support, raising $2,500 for this event. This was the first year the Employee Activity Committee had worked with the Keystone Military Families organization. “The event was a great success and we will be providing a lot of holiday cheer to our soldiers who will not be home for the holidays,” Glass said.
“Thank you to everyone that supported the delivery of the Christmas stockings to the Keystone Military Families organization Nov. 9. Your Mack pride and dedication was greatly appreciated. We will make many deployed soldiers very happy this holiday season.”
