Catasauqua: Holiday shop ready to open

This weekend marks the opening of the Biery House Holiday Shoppe, which is set to be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17. There will be unique handmade gifts, home decor and food from more than 50 vendors.

The event, held Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 8 as well as Black Friday, Nov. 29, is located at 8 Race St. Enter the parking lot from Union Street. Use 5 W. Union St., Catasauqua, for GPS directions.

Proceeds benefit Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association and Mrs. Nothstein’s Helping Hands Fund.

The Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church Morning Glories group will be meeting 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at the church, 604 Fourth St. The speakers will be Barb and Gene Schlegel, representing Friends of Catasauqua Parks.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St., will be offering its monthly free community lunch 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 18. Come on out for some great food and camaraderie with fellow residents.

Catty Seniors Plus will next meet Nov. 20 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua. The doors open noon, and the meeting starts 1 p.m.

There will be a speaker on the changes of Medicare.

Note: This is a week earlier than normal due to Thanksgiving.

This is also the last month to sign up for the Dec. 18 Christmas party luncheon, with the official deadline Dec. 1. If you can’t attend the November meeting, call Dorothy Vassa at 610-264-2853 to make a reservation for the holiday luncheon.

Friends of Catasauqua Parks will meet 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the municipal complex, 90 Bridge St. The group meets monthly on the third Wednesday of the month.

The mission of the group is to improve the quality of life of Catasauqua residents through recreational fundraising events to sustain the parks.

The group is always looking for new volunteers and members. There are no costs or dues to join this group.
