Sayre Child Care holds open house

Morning and afternoon open house sessions at the Sayre Child Care Center Oct. 17 marked the center’s 125th anniversary as alumni, staff, and current students and their families, celebrated at the Hamilton Avenue facility with proclamations and the renewal of past associations. Pennsylvania State Sen. Lisa Boscola presented a senatorial Proclamation of Congratulations. The center also received a Mayoral Proclamation from Mayor J. William Reynolds. Jan Schwartz, an outreach director with the state Association for the Education of Young Children noted the center’s Star Four designation, the top mark possible in Pennsylvania. She said evaluations are done annually and are based on a variety of criteria. Attendees were able to tour the facility and were provided with refreshments and a raffle to benefit the center.
