SISTER CITY EVENT: The 2024 Bethlehem/Murska Sobota Sister Cities annual heritage day election and luncheon is this Saturday, Nov. 16, beginning at noon at Saucon Valley Acres, Black River Road and Evergreen Drive. The event features a chicken dinner with noodles and cabbage, kiffles and other homemade desserts. Slovenian folklore creatures are the featured entertainment. PICKLEBALL FUNDRAISE: Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine, St. Luke’s Sports Medicine, and St. Luke’s Development are teaming up to hold “Play It Forward: The Dr. Trina Wijangco Memorial Scholarship Pickleball Event” Nov. 24. This event is a celebration of Dr. Wijangco’s life and is a Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser.
All proceeds from the pickleball event will benefit the Trina Wijangco, MD Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund, which awards scholarships to deserving students who are dedicated to enhancing diversity in medical education and/or have a proven track record of serving historically underserved or underprivileged communities.
The event – which is open to the public – will be held at St. Luke’s SportsPlex and Pickleball Lehigh Valley, 4636 Crackersport Road, Allentown, and will include competitive and social pickleball games, free lessons, pizza, music, a raffle and prizes. Check-in begins at 11 a.m.

PEEPFEST: Ring in the New Year at the SteelStacks campus from 3 – 6 p.m., Dec. 30 and 31. This event is indoor/outdoor with family-friendly activities and fireworks following the annual PEEPS® Chick drop!
As per tradition, the massive PEEPS® Chick, weighing in at 400 pounds and standing 4 feet and 9 inches tall, will descend for the countdown to the New Year at 5:35 p.m., on both Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, followed by fireworks.
