As autumn unfolds, Salisbury High School is settled into the school year and preparing for important events. From the fall play to winter sports open gyms and a community bingo fundraiser, students are active.
The planned Nov. 15 community bonfire hosted by the SHS Key Club has been canceled as Salisbury Township is currently under a burn ban due to the lack of rain.
First are the technical rehearsals for the fall play. The cast and crew are in the final stages of preparation for their production of “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder. Technical rehearsals continue until Nov. 6, the day before opening night. It’s an important step for the crew and cast to make any changes to their performance and bond before showing the audience the finished show. The fall play will be performed Nov. 7-10. Everyone is encouraged to come out and show support for the theater group.
In sports, the gymnasium and weight rooms are active with Salisbury’s student athletes participating in open gyms. Boys and girls basketball, wrestling and baseball teams are preparing for their upcoming seasons and the open gym sessions are essential for building skills, teamwork and conditioning. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors are welcome to join these open gyms if interested in the sport and want to learn more about Salisbury athletics.
The Salisbury Twirlers are also involving the community with a bingo fundraiser, scheduled for Nov. 10. This event brings students, parents and the Salisbury community together to play bingo, win prizes and support a hardworking, accomplished team. The team has put in a lot of effort to organize this event and they are excited to share an evening of fun with the community.
With so much happening in Salisbury, students, teachers and families have plenty of opportunities to get involved.
The Salisbury community is off to a strong start for the 2024-2025 school year.
