Hokendauqua: Register for First Presbyterian chili meal, cook-off by Nov. 9

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua will hold a community chili meal and cook-off 5:30-7:30 Nov. 12 at the church, 3005 S. Front St.

Regular chili will be available free of charge; a select number of attendees will be allowed to taste submissions in a creative chili cook-off for judging.

In addition, there will also be a cornhole competition.

Gift cards will be awarded to the winners of both cornhole and cook-off competitions.

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, will have its 30th annual craft fair and quilt sale 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 9. There will be booths inside and outside.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mickleys, 2918 MacArthur Road, is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year.

A special event will be held starting 9 a.m., and will continue during the service, Nov. 10.

Whitehall Township Fire Department will be hosting the third annual Miller-Keystone Blood Center blood drive 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 17 in the social hall at Egypt Fire Station, 4099 Kuhn Lane.

Whitehall Historical Preservation Society has open houses scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Nov. 17 and Dec. 15 at the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill and Peter Grim Homestead, 501 and 506 Mickley Road, respectively.

There will also be a holiday social during the Dec. 15 event.

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua will host a Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative free community meal for low-income Whitehall Township and Coplay Borough residents 4-6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the church. The meal is guaranteed for the first 100 guests.

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua will participate in an ecumenical Thanksgiving service, to be held 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua. Many churches are coming together to hold this event.

Before the service, there will be a “breads and spreads” fellowship time starting 6 p.m.

Hokey Athletic Association is partnering with Cementon Park and Playground to sponsor a breakfast with Santa event 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Cementon park pavilion, 5185 Dewey St. There is a cost.
