Egypt/Cementon: Dinner, concert set for Nov. 7
Stop by Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293 6 p.m. Nov. 7 for dinner and stay for a concert by singer-songwriter Mike Sherer, starting 7 p.m. The Post is at 5209 Springmill Road.
The VFW will also be hosting concerts by Alias Nov. 8, Lou Franco Nov. 9, Scott Marshall and the Highway Souls Nov. 16, Barons 3 Nov. 22 and Whiskey Mansion Nov. 27. All concerts begin 7 p.m.
Concert admission is free for members, but there is a cost for guests and nonmembers.
Join your friends noon Nov. 10 for cake and coffee in celebration of the 249th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Egypt VFW is planning Veterans Day events. The VFW will celebrate with music by Two of a Kind 12:30 p.m. Nov. 11. This is a members-only event.
The Warrior Brotherhood Motorcycle Club is planning to be at the VFW Post 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 11 collecting frozen turkeys for distribution by Valor Clinic Foundation to veteran families in need.

• 10 a.m.: Doughboy Memorial at Park and South Church streets, Egypt
• 10:30 a.m.: Egypt Park Veterans Memorial, Hillcrest Lane and Curt Simmons Drive
• 11:30 a.m.: Whitehall Veterans Memorial, Whitehall Township building, 3219 MacArthur Road. Participants include Egypt VFW, Fullerton American Legion, Hokendauqua American Legion and Whitehall Police Honor Guard.

Egypt Memorial Park, 4540 Hillcrest Lane, is accepting new and unwrapped toys and monetary donations for Toys for Tots at the snack stand 5-7 p.m. Nov. 13 and 20 and Dec. 4.

Egypt VFW is hosting a craft workshop 2 p.m. Nov. 16. Make a Christmas tree, snowman or seascape.

Friends of Tomcat is collecting Christmas items for distribution to veterans at the VA Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. Suggested gift items include socks, T-shirts, puzzles, handheld games, snacks and toiletries.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is selling gift cards. To support this fundraiser, visit shopwithscrip.com, log in and use the code L9A248FA33862.
All orders must be submitted by Dec. 1. Gift cards will be ready for pickup at the church by Dec. 8.
Additionally, the youth group is running a clothing drive. Members are accepting new or gently used men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, belts, purses, bed and bath linens and stuffed animals. They cannot accept quilts, comforters, pillows or blankets. Shoes must be bagged separately.
All clean, wearable clothing and shoes are distributed to people in need. Drop off your items in the enclosed porch in the rear of the church.
The clothing drive will continue into June 2025.
