Coplay: Church plans movie night

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church is planning a double feature Halloween movie night, set for Nov. 8 in the social hall, 4 S. Fifth St. Movies begin 6:30 p.m.

The featured films include “Spookley the Square Pumpkin” followed by “Coco.”

Snacks, water, juice, hot cocoa and popcorn will be available, and you can bring your own snacks. Children are encouraged to bring blankets and/or pillows for the movie night.

This is a free event, open to community families. The indoor event is sponsored by the Altar Rosary and Welcome Ministries.

No pets are invited.

Preorders are due by Nov. 8 for St. John’s Lutheran Church’s annual Thanksgiving filling sale. The sale is for preorders only.

Orders are available in a 2-pound pan or 13-by-9-inch pan. Pickup is set for noon-2 p.m. Nov. 15 and 9-11 a.m. Nov. 16.

Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative will be holding a cash bingo, with a jackpot of $200, Nov. 10 at St. Peter’s. Doors will open 1 p.m., and bingo begins 2 p.m.

Coplay Saengerbund’s heritage committee is holding a schnitzel dinner 5-7 p.m. Nov. 16. The menu includes a choice of pork or chicken schnitzel with or without jaeger (mushroom) sauce, spaetzle or mashed potatoes, applesauce or red cabbage, green salad, roll with butter, dessert and coffee.

American Club of Coplay’s annual turkey raffle is Nov. 17 at the pavilion, 300 Cherry St. Doors open noon, and raffles are 1-5 p.m.

There will be free lunch and refreshments for ticket holders. Tickets are available at the hoagie shop or at the club.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Hometown Hero banner applications are available at the borough office. Publicly honor your war heroes and first responders — police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel — with a banner.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has a special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St. Worn-out American flags can be deposited into the mailbox for the Post to properly destroy them.

Looking for an inexpensive but great workout? Aerobic exercise is held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the borough hall auditorium, 98 S. Fourth St.

Bring dumbbells, a towel and a mat to enhance your workout. There is a small cost.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in model railroading to 12- to 21-year-olds. Join the new Explorer Club for ages 12-14.

Meetings are set for 7-9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building.
