Fir will be decorated for holiday festivities
A new live, permanent Christmas tree was planted Oct. 10 at the Catasauqua Borough Municipal Complex, 90 Bridge St.
According to borough Manager Glenn Eckhart, the tree was made possible with a 50/50 match with Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. As part of the grant, decorations will be added to the tree and around the borough office complex.
The fir tree can be used to celebrate the holidays in the borough every year instead of having to cut down a new tree each year. The tree can live approximately 300 years and be as tall as 80 to 115 feet.
Eckhart noted the 10-foot tree will probably grow about a foot a year and can be decorated with the borough’s bucket truck for 40 more years.
“We are grateful for the grant opportunity given to us by the Chamber and look to work with the Chamber for many years to come in helping to beautify this town,” Eckhart said.
He also shared his appreciation for the public works employees who helped plant the tree and will help decorate it in the future.
