Diane Helen Cope, of Bernville, died Sep. 13, 2024. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Martin S. and Ann (Skrip) Petraitis. She was the life partner of the late Ray “Ed” Zentmeyer.
She attended Kutztown University and was, in 1965, a student teacher at Franklin ES, Bethlehem School District. After graduating in 1966, she taught kindergarten and second grade. She was a first grade teacher for more than 25 years; most of them at Jefferson ES. She retired sooner than expected due to health issues.
She was a member of Dubbs Memorial U.C.C., Allentown, and performed in the Christmas pageant, sang in the church choir and prepared devotionals to present to the adult Sunday school class. She was a member of the Zion Choral Society in the early 90s. She danced with Miss Jeanne’s School of Dance Arts for 10 years, performing locally and in Tony Grant’s show at the Steel Pier, Atlantic City.
She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Jo and son-in-law Jeffrey Staples; a sister, Brenda Kocer of Allentown; cousins; and a niece. She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Petraitis
