Board approves agreements, grant requests
The school boardvoted Oct. 21 to accept agreements of service with MARS, Marker Learning and Professional services for Student Reengagement. Grant applications will be submitted for the Ready to Learn Grant, Building Opportunities for Out of School grant and the Athlife Foundation Grant. The Bethlehem Area School District has entered into an agreement with Cedar Crest College, Gwynedd Mercy College and Western Governors University to offer field experience for high school. These internships benefit future professionals with the classroom experience.
Human Resource Committee accepted notification from staff for upcoming retirements and Family and Medical Leave Act requests, and continues to review and revise discrimination/harassment policies.
Recommendations of the board regarding facilities, curriculum, human resources and finance were approved. Each recommendation had been reviewed at the committee meetings before being presented to the full board for a vote.
During courtesy of the floor, resident Robert Pangaro expressed his concern and frustration with the district regarding the resources his special needs daughter is not receiving, and middle school student IDaschel Brown spoke of the importance, educational value and the long-term impact of field trips on each student.
All concerns and issues raised during courtesy of the floor are reviewed and then addressed on an individual basis.
