Bethlehem Catholic saw their chances at a district title come to an end Monday night, meanwhile Liberty looks to keep theirs alive this week.
The Golden Hawks couldn’t get past their nemesis Central Catholic in the District 11 3A tournament, falling to the Vikings in four games during Monday’s semifinals. It’s the third time this year Becahi (18-4) has lost to Central Catholic, as the Hawks were unfortunately placed in the same side of the bracket as the top-seed.
Liberty (16-3) might have their best chance in recent memory to win district gold when they enter the semifinals against Nazareth on Tuesday, which was past Press deadlines.
The top-seeded Hurricanes swept Stroudsburg in the quarterfinals, but now enter their third matchup of the season against the Blue Eagles. Liberty won both of the previous matchups, with the latter coming in five games after sweeping them earlier this season.
A win would push the Hurricanes to Thursday’s 7pm final at Catasauqua against either Parkland or Emmaus. Liberty outlasted Parkland in five games during the regular season, but did not play Emmaus during the year.
