EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I’m currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My mom is Haesun Germain and my dad is Richard Germain. I have a brother named Nicholas, who graduated from EHS.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. I would definitely say some of my AP classes – psychology, art history, literature and environmental science – are up there. Although my favorite subject from junior year was AP World History, my teacher Miss Furry helped me develop my critical thinking and writing skills.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I placed third place at National History Day for states. I was an honorable mention for the Emmaus Shelter House essay competition, alongside a few other minor writing awards. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I’m involved with the school newspaper – The Stinger – alongside National History Day Club and a varsity member on the academic team. Being involved makes me feel more integrated into the school community, something that I struggled with before senior year.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge was just trying to find out who I am during high school.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My goal is to attend a four-year university, although I am a bit undecided on what to major in.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. I’ve been reading a bit of Camus recently, so probably him; I find the whole idea of absurdism interesting. Especially how life has some meaning, even if it is absurd.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered as someone that always tried to prepare for the future, even if I’m not perfect.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Join clubs; you will make a lot of friends who share your interests. That’s it.
