ACCHS veterans invited to prayer service

The induction ceremony for the National Honor Society chapter at Allentown Central Catholic High School was held in Masson Auditorium Oct. 10. Sixty senior students were welcomed into NHS through a candlelighting and book signing ceremony. The induction featured speeches given by the officers of the NHS, President Adia Harbert, Vice President Isabella deGale, Secretary Joey Lehman and Treasurer Katelee Bui.
ACCHS partner school families are invited to a middle school sports and activity information session 6-7 p.m. Nov. 6 in Masson Auditorium. The session is open to families with students in grades 3-8 who want to learn more about middle school programs and athletics at ACCHS. ACCHS parents, siblings or alumni who are veterans are invited to a Veterans Day Prayer Service Nov. 11. Please arrive 9:30 a.m. as the service will begin 9:45 a.m. There will be light refreshments following the service. RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/vtd24 by Nov. 5.
All ACCHS students interested in participating in a winter sport must register for Family ID, www.FamilyID.com by Nov. 14.
The school will host an open house 2-4 p.m. Nov. 17. Join us to tour the campus, meet our principal and faculty, talk with current students, learn about clubs and activities and shop our “Viking Christmas” event in Rockne Hall.

ACCHS athletes have continued to excel throughout the month. Lauren Kushma was chosen as athlete of the week Oct. 11. ACCHS partners with Salisbury High School to provide a field hockey team for ACCHS students. Kushma plays on the Salisbury field hockey team and scored an impressive goal that helped secure the team’s win over Saucon Valley.
For the “My Jersey, Your Impact” recognition, senior football players chose a teacher who made an impact on their high school career. These teachers were honored at J. Birney Crum Stadium Oct. 13. Honorees included Mr. Clifford, Mrs. Prugar, Mrs. Ruch, Mrs. Wiegand, Coach Kendra and Mrs. Stahley.
Cross-country took on the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Championship Oct. 15 with Will Haring placing eighth and Duke Ebert coming in second. The boys team finished in second place overall at the EPCs.
The boys cross-country team became District XI 2A Champions Oct. 23. At Districts, Ebert came in second place, Haring came in sixth place and Thomas Grubb came in 10th place.
Girls volleyball defeated Becahi Oct. 17, winning the team the EPC championship. This is ACCHS’ first volleyball league title win since 2009. Longtime ACCHS girls volleyball coach, Laurie Corcoran, was honored for 30 years of coaching Oct. 24 at Rockne Hall. The team recognizes the 2024 EPC Girls Volleyball Divisional All-Stars and 2024 EPC Girls Volleyball All Conference All-Stars. Congratulations to Milly Wolf, Anna Quinn, Emerson Springs, Grace Coppola and Briana Bauer.
Vikette soccer became EPC champions for the first time in ACCHS history, defeating Parkland Oct. 19. Congratulations to the 2024 EPC Girls Soccer All-Stars, Emma Wells, Delia McMullen, Meredith Eisenmann, Ryleigh van Beek and Lindsey Yen. McMullen was also voted MVP by the conference coaches.
