Trips planned for Emmaus High School students

In the summer of 2026, Emmaus High School students will have the opportunity to visit Thailand. The trip includes exploring several Thai cities, visiting national parks, seeing elephants and discovering Buddhist art and architecture throughout the nation. Interested students should email Alexis Soboleski at asoboleski@eastpennsd.org or visit Room 219. There will also be an informational session held in Room 219 6-7 p.m. Nov. 21. This opportunity is available for all EHS students, including current seniors.

EHS is also hosting a trip to Iceland in summer 2025. Items on the trip’s itinerary include visiting natural wonders such as glaciers, volcanos, mountains and more, learning more about Icelandic culture and hiking. Registration for the trip is open through Jan. 31, 2025. Students with questions should email Sarah Kinzel at skinzel@eastpennsd.org.

Through Oct. 28, East Penn’s Therapy Dog program is having an apparel sale to fundraise for the program, which supports three dogs: Branch, Mario and Tokyo. Clothing items include T-shirts, shirts with long sleeves, pullovers and hoodies. The estimated delivery for any apparel ordered is the week of Dec. 2. AP Exam registration began Oct. 21 and will run through Nov. 1. Exams cost $99 each and payment can be made in either cash or check to Emmaus High School. Students with significant financial need may be eligible for a College Board fee reduction per AP exam; additionally, any student who needs any financial assistance for paying for AP exams should contact their teacher or AP Coordinator Lisa Lucchessi-Wood at lwood@eastpennsd.org. Payment is due upon registration and can be dropped off in Room 272 – students must fill out the registration Google Form located on the AP Exam Information Schoology Group as well as be part of the AP Classroom for the exam they are taking.

On the evening of Nov. 14, the EHS chapter of National Honor Society will induct new members, consisting of current juniors and seniors. According to EHS, NHS requirements include “local members of the Emmaus High School National Honor Society are expected to attend all meetings, to perform a minimum of 12 service hours, three of which must be a designated NHS project, to show evidence of exemplary character and to maintain a 3.5 GPA.”

The EHS peer tutoring program is one of many ways in which students can earn designated NHS service hours.

EHS’ Habitat for Humanity club is holding a fundraiser every Thursday before school selling Celsius drinks and doughnuts. The club is also hosting a pumpkin decorating contest fundraiser Oct. 31. Teams can be one to two people and there is a cost.
