The Northwestern Lehigh cross country teams both went 19-6 in the 2024 regular season, which wrapped up Tuesday with both teams going 2-1 in a meet hosted by the Tigers.
Northwestern’s boys team beat Bangor (20-43) and Pen Argyl (15-50) Tuesday, but lost to Wilson (27-28). The Tiger girls also beat Bangor (15-42) and Pen Argyl (19-41) but lost to the Warriors (22-33).
Sophia Cornell led the Tiger girls team with a third-place overall finish, with teammates Devon Heinly (12th), Megan Fornwalt (14th), Kellcey Pedron (17th) and Ava Smedstad (18th) rounding out the top five.
Wilson’s Avery Errico (18:57.99) won the girls race by a wide margin over Southern Lehigh’s Caelee Lenhart (19:47.21). Cornell wasn’t far behind at 19:48.54.
Xander Giandomenico led the Tiger boys team with a fourth-place overall finish, followed by teammates Greyson Welling (6th), Noah Griffith (11th), Jonathan Fornauf (13th) and Brady Furman (17th).
Bangor’s Alden Twist won the boys race by five seconds (16:33.48) with Southern Lehigh’s Miles Etters (16:38.83) taking second.
Both teams finished in first place in the Colonial League standings. Notre Dame (Green Pond) went 28-0 to take the girls regular season title, while Southern Lehigh’s boys were 25-0 to take first place.
The league will hold its championship meet Wednesday, Oct. 16 at DeSales University with the District 11 Championship meet also in Center Valley a week later.
