Emmaus XC teams host final meet of regular season
The Emmaus High School cross country teams finished the regular season last week when they hosted several teams at Camp Olympic. The EHS girls team went 17-1 in 2024, while the Hornet boys team finished 14-3.
The Hornet girls dispatched off all three of their opponents last Tuesday at Camp Olympic, beating Parkland 18-43 and topping Dieruff and Allen by 15-50 scores.
Emmaus runners finished in the top two places and six of the top eight places.
Mady McCartney ran the course in a record time of 18:35 for first place, followed by teammate Payton Campbell (19:25). Teammates Isabella Scarlata (5th), Olivia Fleck (6th) and Addison Johnson (7th) rounded out the Emmaus top five. Grace Nosal was just behind in 8th place.
The Emmaus boys team went 2-1, beating Allen and Dieruff by 15-50 scores, but losing to unbeaten Parkland 25-30.
Central Catholic’s Luke Ebert (16:39) took first place at the meet, with Parkland’s Luke McEvoy (16:41) second.
The Hornets’ Conor Fisher (16:42) finished third overall by one second, while teammates Ryan Fach (6th), Jared Petre (7th), Richard Will (13th) and David Hearn (15th) made up the EHS top five in the boys race.
Emmaus teams swept a meet at Whitehall Parkway one week earlier.
Campbell took first place overall in the girls race, with McCartney second. Fleck, Scarlata and Johnson came in 4th through 6th to round out the Hornets’ scoring.
In the boys meet at Whitehall, Ebert again took first place, followed by four Hornets with Fach finishing second, Fisher third, Petre fourth and Will fifth. Hearn was ninth overall to round out the Emmaus scoring.
The Hornets competed in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Oct. 4.
McCartney led the Emmaus girls team, finishing 11th overall in the Brown race at the meet. Campbell finished 22nd at Lehigh, while Fleck (95th), Scarlata (100th) and Nosal (131st) made up the Hornets’ top five.
The Hornet girls team finished 8th at the meet, which was dominated by teams from District 1 as Haverford won the team title, followed by Owen J. Roberts and Conestoga.
In the boys race, Petre led the way in 82nd place, followed by Fach (104th), Fisher (122nd), Will (135th) and Hearn (178th).
The teams were back in action this week with the East Penn Conference Championships Tuesday at DeSales University. See next week’s Press for more about that meet.
