EHS heads into EPC playoffs
The Emmaus boys soccer team finished the regular season last week with a 2-1 loss to rival Parkland and heads into this week’s East Penn Conference playoffs as the No. 3 seed.
The Hornets (15-2-1 overall; 14-2-1 EPC) went ahead of Parkland 1-0 on a Kai Mattern goal in the first half that was assisted by teammate Rio Johnson. But the Trojans got second-half goals from Ryan Bender and Lincoln Fritz to secure the win.
Parkland outshot Emmaus 12-5 in the game and had a 6-5 advantage in corners. Emmaus goal keeper Will Peck made six saves.
Emmaus beat Liberty 4-0 on October 7. Mattern scored twice in the win, while Ethan Dublin and Mohamed Hassanali added one goal each. Brayden Deng assisted on a goal as his team outshot Liberty 11-2 and held a 4-3 edge in corners. Peck made two saves in the win.
The Hornets beat Nazareth 4-1 on Oct. 3.

Emmaus rolled to a 10-0 win over East Stroudsburg North on Oct. 1.
Hassanali, Powell and Canyon Reinhardt scored twice each in the win, while Brennan Stack, Gabe Reyes, Andrew Manz and Dublin scored one goal each. Grossi had two assists in the game, while Hassanali, Reinhardt, Cook, Stack and Logan Krebs assisted on one goal each.
Peck made one save in the win over the Timberwolves as Emmaus put 15 shots on goal to ESN’s one while earning five penalty corners and allowing none.
Emmaus was slated to take on No. 6 seed Allen in Tuesday’s EPC quarterfinals. A win would put the Hornets in a semifinal game against either No. 2 Freedom or No. 7 Liberty Thursday. The league finals are scheduled for Saturday.
