The Emmaus High School girls soccer team had a very successful start to the 2024 regular season as it was unbeaten through the first 15 games of the campaign.
Last week, the Green Hornets were victorious in their first game of the week, defeating East Stroudsburg North 9-0 on the road last Tuesday. But they also suffered their first defeat on the year, falling to Nazareth 3-1 at home last Thursday night on senior night from Memorial Field.
In the victory over the Timberwolves, there were seven different goal scorers, led by two each from Elizabeth Bender and Gabriella Powell. Ella Scharper, Giuliana Meyer, Sofia Isaksson, Olivia Haberl and Autumn Scheuermann all found the back of the net once. Bender and Meyer both contributed two assists with Scharper and Isaksson adding one. Sadie Wallace finished with two saves in net.
Against the Blue Eagles, Hannah Berk was the lone goal scorer for the Green Hornets off an assist by Scharper. Ashley Stein had three saves. Nazareth’s first goal came on an own goal by Emmaus and then had two goals from Madison Jankowski to come out on top.
Emmaus, which improved to 13-1-2 overall and 12-1-1 in the conference, finishes out the regular season portion of its schedule this week as it plays two road games, first this past Monday night at Liberty and then are at Parkland Wednesday night.
