Stanley Edwin Smith, 91, of Northampton, formerly of Macungie, died Oct. 16, 2024. He was born in Mertztown to the late Charles E. and Amelia W. (Schaeffer) Smith.
He honorably served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Army as a field wire chief during the Korean War. He was attached to 151 Engineer Headquarter Company Combat Battalion. Following his military service, he worked at Emmaus Foundry for 36 years and also worked several years at Luther Crest in Allentown. He spent 29 years delivering The Morning Call newspapers.
He enjoyed automobile races at local tracks, including modified and 318 limited sportsman cars. He was often at the track watching his great-grandson race quarter midget and stage 1 modified cars.
He was a member of the Heidelberg Union Church and lifetime member of the Macungie Fire House.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sharon; children, Bruce, of Wescosville, Arnette Clouse, of Slatington, Stephen (Denise), of Emmaus, Anna Eisenhard (Stephen), of Allentown; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Althea, Kenneth, Robert. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a grandson, Derek; a great-grandson, Tyson; siblings, Cleon, Willard, Lorraine, Arlene, GlenRoy.
