Sarah (Sally) N. Oplinger, 84, of Northampton, died Oct. 17, 2024, at Sacred Heart Assisted Living, Northampton.

Born in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert and Ethel (Oberholtzer) Oplinger.

She graduated from Northampton High School in 1958. She obtained her nursing degree from Reading Hospital School of Nursing.

She worked as a nurse at Allentown General Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 2002. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer at the hospital in the emergency room and hospice center for many years and drove visually disabled patients to their appointments.

She enjoyed a bowling league in her younger days.

She is survived by a brother, John and wife Helene of Bath; a sister-in-law, Linda of Bethlehem; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert “Butch” and George; and a sister, Jane Kistler.

Services will be private.
