North Catasauqua: Borough council to meet Oct. 28

The next North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting will take place 7 p.m. Oct. 28 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

This meeting is subject to cancellation, so check the borough website at northcatasauqua.org for any changes. The meeting will be a hybrid meeting, with both in-person and virtual options. Visit northcatasauqua.org for the access code to view the meeting virtually.

Trick-or-treat night will take place 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the borough. Trick or treat will be held rain or shine, and there is no scheduled rain date.

Don’t forget to turn on your porch light to alert trick-or-treaters to stop at your home.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., will hold its annual Halloween hot dogs and hot chocolate giveaway Oct. 31 at the church.

Mosaic Home and Garden, 1096 Milton St., will be holding a Goosebumps in the Greenhouse Halloween event 5-10 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be food, games, entertainment, dancing, a basket raffle and more.

The event benefits the North Catasauqua and Catasauqua fire departments. There is a cost.

A complimentary pumpkin and apple cider will be given out with each ticket. A ticket to enter a $250 grand-prize drawing will be given out to each person as part of the event, courtesy of Daku’s Auto Body.

St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1229 Third St., is having a sandwich sale fundraiser.

Order forms and payment are due Nov. 3. Sandwich pickup will be 4-6 p.m. Nov. 13 in the parish basement hall.

Order forms are available at the church entrances. The sandwich sale benefits the church.

Sandwiches will be made by Kornfeind’s Market in Egypt. Sandwich choices include roast beef, ham or turkey, and all sandwiches come with white American cheese and a packet of mustard or mayonnaise.

The borough is hiring a part-time office assistant for 20-25 hours a week. Applications with attached resumes should be submitted at the borough office, 1066 Fourth St. Contact the office at 610-264-1504 with any questions.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., offers a biweekly grief support gathering. The group meets 10 a.m. every other week.

This is a nondenominational gathering that offers conversation and support for those who have lost their spouse. All group participation is confidential.

St. John Fisher Catholic Church is forming a new autumn Bible study, held 6:45-7:55 p.m. Monday nights.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., has last-minute Halloween costumes available, as well as fall and winter clothing and small household items.

Regular hours at the shop are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The shop is always happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing, household items and toys during store hours. Proceeds from the shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

The North Catasauqua Recreation Committee announced there will be no fall cornhole league this year. The program will return next summer.

Join Scouting America to promote youth leadership, community service, environmental conservation, good citizenship and an appreciation of the outdoors. Scouting America Troop 94 welcomes boys and girls ages 12 and above.

North Catasauqua Police Association will host a free breakfast for veterans from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Nov. 9 at North Catasauqua Masonic Lodge, 1103 Sixth St.
