Hokendauqua: Get out for these fun Halloween-themed events in Whitehall

Mark your calendar for these Halloween-themed events.

• The Whitehall Township annual Halloween parade will start 7 p.m. Oct. 24. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: most original, overall appearance and most spirited.

There is a new parade route this year, which is as follows: Staging will be in the Whitehall High School parking lot, 3800 Mechanicsville Road. The parade will pass in front of WHS, continue straight across Whitehall Way around the new Gockley Elementary School, crossing Zephyr Boulevard and passing Steckel Elementary School, Whitehall-Coplay Middle School and Zephyr Elementary School. The route continues, turning left onto Campus Drive and ending at Schadt Avenue Park and Playground.

Participants can exit east or west on Schadt Avenue if returning to the WHS parking lot for transportation.

Food trucks — including Caribbean Islands Cuisine, Hoff’s Kettle Corn, Take a Taco and Vince’s Cheesesteaks — will be located at the playground parking lot and will be open before and throughout the parade.

If you have questions about the parade, contact Michele K. Dragovits, parade director, at 610-437-5524, ext. 1165, or mdragovits@whitehalltownship.com.

• Trick-or-treat night is set for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25. The rain date is Oct. 26.

• Whitehall Fire Department’s Haunted Hayride in the Parkway will continue 7-11 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St. There is a cost, but children ages 5 and younger attend for free; discount coupons are available at whitehallfd.org.
