Isabel Gonya, 95, of Slatington, died on Oct. 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, in the home of her daughter Teresa Pohlmann, with whom she resided.

She and her late husband, Eugene A. Gonya, were married 50 years.

Born May 29, 1929, in Dover, Del., she was the daughter of the late Edward Daniel Biter Sr and Mary (Bolan) Biter.

She worked as a private duty nurse for several years.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

Her life was devoted to God, her family and those in need.

Her survivors include children David Gonya (Linda) of New Jersey, Thomas Gonya (Linda) of Macungie, Michael Gonya (MaryBeth) of Allentown, Mary Van Vleit of Allentown, Richard Gonya (Nadine) of Orefield, Teresa Pohlmann (David) of Slatington, Andrew Gonya of North Carolina, and James Gonya (Mary Kaye) of Allentown; 10 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

She was predeceased by a son, Gerald E. Gonya, and siblings George Durney, Edway Biter Jr., Mary Ann Craver and Cleon Biter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown.

The Rev. (Fr.) Nikolai R. Brelinsky will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville.
