Sheckler News: Kindergartners to visit pumpkin patch

Sheckler Elementary School’s pumpkin patch trip for kindergartners is set for Oct. 18.

Catasauqua Police Department is hosting a Halloween trunk-or-treat event 6-8 p.m. Oct. 19 at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. Come dressed in a costume to get free candy.

No registration is required.

Pumpkin-carving contest submissions are due Oct. 21. Categories include funniest, spookiest, prettiest, most unusual, most colorful, most creative, best animal, best classroom, best superhero and best cartoon/movie character.

Pumpkins should be dropped off on the table in the second-grade hallway at Sheckler Elementary. Be sure to put your name and grade level on the pumpkin!

There will be an early dismissal — 1:30 p.m. — Oct. 23.

The Scholastic book fair is at Sheckler until Oct. 18, and online shopping is available until Oct. 24.

This year, Scholastic is offering a “share the fair” opportunity where you can add funds to the online account for other students who need help buying from the fair.

Sheckler’s Halloween parade has been set for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Students’ costumes should not show blood, pain or injuries. Props involving weapons or violence are not permitted. Visit Sheckler’s Facebook page for more information on the parade route.

Classroom parties for students will follow the parade and parents/guardians are not permitted to enter the building.

Catasauqua Youth Athletic Association is hosting a trunk or treat 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25 at Opportunity Field, 890 Walnut St. There will be candy, snacks and costume prizes for all. The rain date is 5-7 p.m. Oct 27.

If interested in participating with your vehicle, contact catasauquayouthaa@gmail.com. Participants must arrive by 4:30 p.m.

Catasauqua Community Cares Program will be hosting a winter coat distribution 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 16 at the CASD administration office, located next to Sheckler Elementary.
