St. Mary’s Catholic Church member
Mathilde Cecilia Stubits, formerly of Catasauqua and Whitehall, died Oct. 3, 2024, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was the wife of the late Lewis Stubits for 69 years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Anton and Cecilia (Boandl) Weinhofer. She was raised in Zahling, Burgenland, Austria, before returning to the United States after World War II.
She and her husband regularly attended events at Coplay Saengerbund.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catasauqua.
She is survived by a son, Donald of Milton, Wash.; two daughters, Sylvia McBrinn and husband Robert Reigrod of Park City, Utah, and Elizabeth Shlom and husband Howard of Lambertville, N.J.; six grandchildren, Dawn, Eric, Brian, Lauren, Alison and Evan; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Susanna; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Anton Weinhofer and August Weinhofer with Rosa of Zahling, Austria; and a sister, Rosa Herzum with Franz, of Peissenberg, Germany.
A celebration of life will be held later in the month at Fellowship Community.
