John W. Koch, 93, formerly of Catasauqua, died Oct. 7, 2024, at Summit Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at St. Luke’s Lehighton campus. He was the husband of the late Irene (Prokopchak) Koch for 64 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Clarence and Pauline (George) Koch.

He graduated from Northampton High School in 1949.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, where he played trumpet in the Army band.

He worked in the produce department for the former Lane Company, Dorneyville, for many years before retiring.

He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.

He is survived by a son, John W. Jr. and wife Kathy; a daughter, Lynn Karol and husband Jim; a sister, Princess Kratzer; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and Richard.

Services will be private.
