EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My parents’ names are Lonna and Charlie. I have two older siblings and their names are Jessica and Artee. I also have a dog named Abby and a bearded dragon named Ziggy.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is AP Chemistry because it helps me develop critical thinking skills pertaining to chemical processes relevant to my everyday life.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have obtained Principal’s Honor Roll throughout my entire high school career. I have received several awards pertaining to the following: Award in Excellence for Global Science Inquiry and World Studies. Additionally, I have obtained the designation of Microsoft Office Specialist in PowerPoint, subsequent to being recognized as being in sixth place as a Microsoft Office Specialist Spring Qualifier.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. Yes, I am currently the president of the Gratitude Club. I am also a member of the Chem Club and Astronomy Club. Being the president of the Gratitude Club has given me the opportunity to stand out as a leader and help engender gratitude. Being involved with the Chem Club has given me a conducive environment to explore my interest for chemistry and foster my thoughts.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge, currently, is deciding what’s next in my future education and career.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My goal is to go into undergraduate school at a college or university. I plan to pursue a major in chemical engineering or something in pharmaceuticals.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. I would choose to spend an evening conversing with George Washington because I would like to know more about his personal life and perspectives on the founding of America.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered as the student who was very dedicated to his studies, respected his teachers and cared a lot about helping other students.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice for my peers is to not ponder so much about other people’s abilities compared to your abilities, and instead focus on your own goals and dreams. I believe talent is overrated when it’s not accompanied by hard work and dedication.
