Oct. 16
The Vera Cruz Community Association will host the annual Vera Cruz Halloween parade 7 p.m. Expected participants include the Emmaus High School marching band. DJ Cesar Rosado will announce the parade. The rain date is Oct. 17.
The Emmaus Historical Society’s monthly program will be held 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The program is titled: “The ‘Corner’ Stores of Emmaus” presented by Andrew Kerstetter. Come to reminisce about the neighborhood grocery stores of Emmaus. Hear a short history of each with photographs of the locations. The program is free to the public with refreshments served after the program.
Oct. 19
The Emmaus Halloween Committee hosts the annual Emmaus Halloween Parade 7 p.m. The rain date is 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20. Visit the website www.emmausparade.com for details. Volunteers are needed and donations are accepted to help with the cost of the parade.
State rep. Milou Mackenzie, R-131st, will host a shredding event 10 a.m. to noon at Hope Valley Community Church, 501 Graber Alley, Red Hill. Constituents may shred up to four boxes or bags of documents per vehicle. Boxes should be approximately the size of a piece of carry-on luggage. The event is designed to assist with disposal of documents containing sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or banking information. The event is limited to homeowners.
Fall craft and vendor sale at Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 235 E. Penn Ave., Alburtis, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Crafts, attic treasures, gift basket auction, baked goods, vendors, refreshments and lunch will be available.
Oct. 20
Elvis will make an appearance at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, 2-3:30 p.m. Limited seating available. There is a charge. For reservations, contact Louise at 610-866-1611.
The Upper Milford Historical Society will host an open house 1-4 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Visitors are welcome to browse the displays. Visit the website www.uppermilford.org for details.

The Macungie Minstrelaires will present the program “Big Band Swing” 7 p.m. at Lower Macungie Middle School, 6299 Lower Macungie Road, Macungie. The Wildlands Conservancy will host a spooky hike to track secretive night creatures in Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, 8-9 p.m. The hike is designed for hikers 7 years and older and there is a cost. The Emmaus Lions Club will host its fall chowder sale 7-11 a.m. at Emmaus Community Park Moser Pavilion, Shimerville Road. There is a cost per quart. To place an order call 610-965-7355.
The group Mopar Madness of the Lehigh Valley is scheduled to host a cruise night 3-6 p.m. in Emmaus Community Park, Shimerville Road, weather permitting. All makes and models are welcome. Nov. 2
The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club will hold a clothing drive 9 a.m. to noon. Donations of unwanted clothing and household items may be brought to the auxiliary gym at Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St., Allentown. A list of acceptable items is available on the website clothingdrive.net.
The Emmaus Lioness Lions Club will host a free scarf giveaway at the Emmaus Triangle 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 400 handmade scarves will be available for those in need of some extra warmth during the chilly winter season. The scarves will be draped on the park fence and anyone is welcome to take one. In the event of inclement weather, the giveaway will be rescheduled for Nov. 9.

Old Zionsville United Church of Christ, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, will hold its 27th annual bazaar and filled basket auction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Browse through the crafters and vendors, check out the auction baskets and buy tickets for a chance to win. New this year are a door prize drawing and a 50/50 raffle. Remember to check out the bake sale. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
