Salisbury’s girls soccer team continues to look for its first win of the season after losses to Palmerton (6-6-0 Colonial, 7-7-0 overall) and Northwestern (12-0-0, 15-0-0) this past week.
Against Northwestern, the Falcons (0-10-1, 0-12-1) were shutout 10-0 with goalie Gabi Pena continuing to play well in goal making 14 saves in the game. On its trip to Palmerton, Salisbury lost 6-1 behind 11 more saves by Pena.
The Lady Falcons have three more opportunities to get into the win column with home games against Catasauqua (3-8-0, 4-10-0) and Southern Lehigh (6-4-1, 7-7-1) and a road game against the Moravian Academy Lions (11-1-0, 11-2-0) squeezed between the two home contests.
In boys soccer, Salisbury’s losing skid reached eight games with losses to Palmerton (7-3-1, 8-5-2), Pen Argyl (3-7-0, 6-9-0), and Northwestern (11-0-0, 15-0-0), playing three games in four days.
The Falcons (0-10-0, 2-12-0) fell to Palmerton 3-1 and dropped a 2-1 decision to Pen Argyl the next day. After a day off, Salisbury faced league powerhouse Northwestern and lost 7-2.
Salisbury has now lost nine of its last 10 games and is eliminated from any playoff contention.
The remaining regular season schedule has games against Catasauqua (0-11-0, 3-11-0) and Southern Lehigh (8-1-1, 11-2-2) on the road before the Falcons finish out the season at home against Moravian Academy (8-3-0, 9-5-0).
