Salisbury girls soccer shuts out NDGP to snap losing streak

The Salisbury boys soccer team was unable to snap its losing skid over the past week and has now suffered five straight losses to drop its season record to 2-9-0 (0-7-0 Colonial), while the Falcon girls team had a slightly better week as it snapped an eight-game losing streak with a scoreless tie against Notre Dame – Green Pond (3-4-1 Colonial, 4-5-1 overall) and is now 0-9-1 on the season (0-7-1 Colonial).

While the Lady Falcons were unable to score, goalie Gabi Pena turned in an all-star style performance in goal when she recorded 30 saves against the Crusaders to keep the game scoreless.

Notre Dame goalie Frankie Rowley made five saves for her team in the tie. Salisbury has been shutout in each of its last three games and has scored just four goals in 10 games this season.

For the boys team, the Falcons have run across some tough luck with their last three losses coming by just one goal in identical 3-2 losses to Wilson (5-2-0, 7-4-0), Notre Dame – Green Pond (5-2-1, 8-3-1), and Bangor (4-5-0, 6-6-0).

The boys host Palmerton (5-3-0, 6-5-1) and Pen Argyl (0-7-0, 3-9-0) this week before traveling to Northwestern to play the Tigers (8-0-0, 11-0-0) on Friday afternoon. The girls have the reverse schedule with trips to Palmerton (3-6-0, 4-7-0) and Pen Argyl (1-8-0, 3-8-0) and a home game against Northwestern Lehigh (9-0-0, 12-0-0) on Saturday morning.
