Northwestern volleyball beats Palmerton, falls to Pates, Tide

The Northwestern Lehigh girls volleyball team is 4-5 overall and 4-3 in Colonial League play as it heads into the final few weeks of the 2024 regular season.

The Tigers dropped a nonleague matches against Freedom and Pottsville recently after a win over Palmerton last week.

Tuesday the Tigers fell to Freedom, 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-19, 15-12) in a tight match.

Shannon Green had 35 assists in the match, while Norah Silfies made 12 kills and had 5 blocks. Daisy Stringer chipped in with 10 kills and five aces against the host Patriots (4-5).

One day earlier Northwestern hosted Pottsville and fell 3-0 (25-16, 27-25, 25-17) to the Crimson Tide (8-2).

Green had 18 assists and two aces in the loss, while Silfies added 8 kills and 2 blocks.

The Tigers swept Palmerton last Wednesday, Sept. 11, 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-16).

Elyse Browning had 9 kills and 2 blocks for Northwestern. Lexi George had 11 digs and 5 aces. Green made 19 assists and had 2 aces.

Northwestern has one more match this week when it hosts Pen Argyl Thursday, then resumes with four matches next week against Saucon Valley, Catasauqua, Southern Lehigh and Nazareth.
