Nestor leads girls XC team

The Northwestern boys and girls cross country teams both went 3-1 at a Colonial League multi-team meet Sept. 10 at Salisbury.

In the boys meet, Northwestern beat Moravian Academy (19-42), Palisades (19-38) and Saucon Valley (20-39), but lost to Notre Dame (23-34).

Greyson Wellings led Northwestern with a fourth-place finish, followed by teammates Xander Giandomenico (7th), Noah Griffith (17th), Brady Furman (19th) and Jonathan Fornauf (29th) rounding out the top five.

In the girls meet, Northwestern beat Saucon Valley (25-30), Moravian Academy (17-40) and Palisades (15-50) but fell to Notre Dame (23-36).

Rosalia Nestor finished second overall to pace the Tigers. Teammates Sophia Cornell (7th), Devon Heinly (14th), Kellcey Pedron (23rd) and Ava Smedstad (30th) were also part of the Tiger team score.

Te Tigers boys went 2-1 again at a tri-meet at Pen Argyl last week, falling to Wilson (22-33), but beating Bangor (20-43) and the host Green Knights (15-50).

Giandomenico paced the Tigers with a fifth-place overall finish, while Welling finished 11th, followed by Griffith (17th), Fornauf (19th) and Furman (21st).

Northwestern’s girls team went 1-2 with a win over Bangor (17-37) and losses to Wilson (26-29) and Pen Argyl (26-29).

Nestor led the way with another second-place overall finish, while Cornell (5th), Megan Fornwalt (15th), Pedron (19th) and Smedstad (28th) rounded out the top five.
