Golfers compete in CL Tourney

Three Salisbury golfers competed in last week’s Colonial League Championship Tournament, which is held each year at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course.

Seniors Owen Fogel and Josh Holler finished just one stroke apart at the event, with Fogel finishing in a tie for 17th at 84 (13-over par), while Holler tied for 20th with an 85 (14-over par). Sophomore Jackson Skeans finished in a tie for 44th place with a 99.

Fogel shot 43 on the front nine and 41 on the back last week. A few big numbers hurt his scorecard as he made two birdies, seven pars and three bogeys, but also carded four double bogeys and one triple.

Holler played a more steady round with just two doubles to go with six pars and 10 bogeys.

Skeans made two pars and nine bogeys on the day, but played eight holes to scores of double or higher in his first league championship meet.

As a team, Salisbury finished the regular season at 4-7, tied with Northwestern and Jim Thorpe for seventh place in the league, which now has 12 schools with golf teams since after Jim Thorpe and Lehighton became full members this school year.
