Five Hornets reach D-11 Tourney

Several Emmaus golfers competed in last week’s District 11 Championship Qualifier, held Sept. 30 at Northampton Country Club. Five of them earned a place in this week’s championship tournament.

The Hornets’ Ella Bloszinsky finished first in a three-player girls field with a round of 25-over par 97 to earn a place in the district championships, which were held Tuesday at Steel Club in Hellertown.

Bloszinsky made one par to go along with 10 bogeys, seven doubles and one triple.

In the boys qualifying tournament, Emmaus’ Evan Walters shot 79 (7-over par) to finish fourth overall and earn a place in the championship. He will be joined by teammates Karson Krasley, Kyan DeLong and Zachary Heller.

Walters made one birdie, 10 pars, six bogeys and one double bogey at the qualifier.

Krasley tied for 12th at 13-over par 85 last week. He made eight pars, seven bogeys and three doubles.

DeLong was one stroke behind with an 86 to tie for 15th place. He made back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes to bolster his round, which also included nine pars, two bogeys and two double-bogeys, two triples and a quad-bogey.

Heller also tied for 15th with an 86, making five pars, 12 bogeys and one double.

Silas Wellhoener came one stroke short of advancing for Emmaus with an 88 to tie for 24th place last week.

Parkland’s Landen Benner took the top spot in the Class 3A qualifier last week with a 2-over par 74.
