Falcons win three games in four days

The Salisbury field hockey team had a stretch of three games in four days and navigated it without a scratch to win all three games and stretch its current unbeaten streak to six games. The Falcons have now won 13 of their last 14 games.

Salisbury opened the stretch with road wins over Northern Lehigh (1-9-0, 1-14-0) and Bangor (5-4-1, 5-7-1) as it downed the Bulldogs 10-2 and then beat the Slaters 3-0.

Back at home, Lauren Kushma led the Salisbury offense with three goals in a 7-1 win over Lehighton (5-7-1, 5-7-1). The Lady Falcons also got goals from Maya Afif, Sarah Beckage, Katie Carbone, and Gwyn DeFazio. During the current winning streak, Salisbury has outscored its opponents 43-3 with four shutouts. On the season, Salisbury has outscored opponents 82-12.

In league play, Salisbury is battling with Southern Lehigh (10-1-0, 11-2-0) for the top spot in the Colonial League South Division. The two teams are also battling for the top spot in the Class 2A district standings.

The Lady Spartans beat Salisbury earlier in the season and are 3-0-0 in division play while Salisbury is 2-1-0. The two teams will play at Salisbury next Tuesday in the regular season finale. The Falcons will be among the top three seeds in the league tournament.

The remaining schedule has a home game against Saucon Valley (5-5-1, 6-7-1) and a road game at Palisades (1-9-1, 2-10-1) before the season ending showdown with the Spartans at home on Tuesday.
