Falcon girls soccer has first 3-goal game

The Salisbury girl soccer (0-7-0, 0-8-0) continued to struggle to find offense this week as it fell to both Palisades (3-2-1, 5-2-1) and Wilson (1-6-0, 1-6-0) in shutouts.

The good news is that the Falcons scored three goals in a tough loss to Jim Thorpe (1-4-0, 1-6-0), one of two schools that have joined the Colonial League this season.

The Falcons made the trip to Palisades and fell to the Lady Pirates 3-0 before coming home to face Jim Thorpe.

The Olympians and Falcons battled throughout the game with Jim Thorpe taking a 4-3 win over Salisbury. Mackenzie Moyer, Gabi Pena, and Madison Reis all scored their first goals of the season in the loss with Ellyana Belletiere Bieber, Reis and Pena all picking up assists.

Charlotte Neuhs and Izzy Gonzalez combined to make nine saves in goal for Salisbury.

On Saturday, Salisbury fell to Wilson in a 6-0 game with Pena making 14 saves in goal for the Lady Falcons.

As Salisbury continues to search for its first win of the season, it will be facing Notre Dame – Green Pond (3-4-0, 4-5-0) and Bangor (7-1-0, 9-1-0) in road games over the next week.

The Falcon boys team was defeated by the same three schools over the past week as the Falcons managed just one goal in the three games. Against Palisades, Salisbury was shutout 3-0 and they also were shutout against Wilson in a 6-0 loss. Between those two games, Salisbury dropped a 5-1 game to Jim Thorpe.

Against the Olympians, senior Josh Hudak scored the only goal of the game for the Falcons.

The Falcons play three games over the next week, starting with a trip to Notre Dame – Green Pond (4-2-0, 6-3-0) ahead of a pair of home games with Bangor (3-4-0, 4-5-0) and then facing Palmerton (5-2-0, 6-2-1) on Tuesday.
