Emmaus boys soccer team stays unbeaten

The Emmaus High School boys soccer team remained undefeated on the season as it won all three of its game last week, all of which were in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

The Hornets (8-0 overall; 7-0 EPC) put up double digits in goals in beating Pocono Mountain West 10-0 at Memorial Field last Monday, September 9, and then followed that up a day later with a 5-0 road victory at Dieruff. They downed Northampton 2-1 on Friday afternoon at home to finish out the week.

In the win over the Panthers, there were eight different goal scorers, led by two a piece from Kai Mattern and Austen Breisch. Canyon Reinhardt, Gabe Reyes, Miles Cook, Noah Tintle, Callum Harvey and Ben Curtis found the back of the net once. Ben Grossi and Ethan Dublin finished with two assists, while Alex Ervin and Brennan Stack had one. Emmaus had 32 shots and 14 corner kicks, while Pocono Mountain West didn’t have any.

Against the Huskies, Reinhardt led the offense with two goals, while Dublin, Reyes and Rio Johnson all finished with one. Conner Powell, Grossi and Tintle each had an assist. Will Peck made one save in net for the Green Hornets, who outshot Dieruff 29-3 and had a 12-0 advantage in corners.

In the victory over the Kids, Emmaus was forced to comeback as it trailed 1-0 at halftime. Two second half goals by Reyes and Mohamed Hassanali propelled the Green Hornets to get over top. Gavin Yartymyk finished with three saves. Emmaus had a 9-7 edge in shots and 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Emmaus hosted Bethlehem Catholic this past Tuesday night at Memorial Field and is at Freedom Thursday night before welcoming Easton to town for a Saturday afternoon match. The Hornets and rival Parkland (7-0, 7-0) are the lone unbeaten teams in the conference to date.
