EHS golfers compete in EPC Tourney

The Emmaus High School golf team got a little bit of revenge on rival Parkland at last week’s East Penn Conference Championships.

The Hornets, which lost to Parkland in their final match of the regular season, edged the Trojans by one point at the league tournament, 338-339, to take third place as a team with the rival Trojans fourth.

Sophomore Evan Walters and junior Kyan DeLong led Emmaus at leagues as both shot 79 to tie for sixth place. Teammates Zachary Heller (89), Karson Krasley (91) and Silas Wellhoener (99) also competed in the league tournament.

The Hornets had two girls finish in the top three at leagues. Alexis Teichman shot 86 for second place in the event, which was held at Great Bear Golf Course in East Stroudsburg. Maya Schutz finished third (88), while teammate Ella Bloszinsky took sixth place in the girls tournament at leagues.

Nazareth won this year’s EPC team title with a score of 322 to finish 15 shots clear of second-place Northampton (337).

Stroudsburg’s Hunter Probst won the individual league title with a 3-over par 74. Parkland’s Charlie Gold was second with a 75.

Northampton’s Camryn Hoff won the girls league title with an 82.

Emmaus went 13-3 overall and 12-3 in EPC matches this season, losing only to Nazareth, Northampton and Parkland.

In the season finale against the Trojans at their home course, Twin Lakes, Emmaus shot 398 to Parkland’s 390.

Walters led the way with a 77 for Emmaus, with Heller (76), Wellhoener (79), Ryan Maloney (82) and Krasley (84) making up the five-player team score.

Several Emmaus players went on to compete in this week’s District 11 qualifying tournament. See more about that event in next week’s Press.
