EHS girls soccer stays unbeaten

The Emmaus High School girls soccer team stayed undefeated with a successful week last week, winning all three of its games played, all three in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

The Green Hornets improved their overall record to 7-0-1 and 6-0-1 in the conference by defeating Dieruff 9-0 last Wednesday night at Memorial Field and then winning two straight road matches, 2-1 at Northampton Friday afternoon and 1-0 at Easton on Saturday morning.

In the win over the Huskies, there were eight different goal scorers. Sofia Isaksson tallied two goals as the high scorer and then Ella Sharper, Elizabeth Bender, Gabriella Powell, Kyana Deabreu, Andrea Dolcemascolo, Atlanta Bogert and Blair Stephens finished with a goal. Bender recorded two assists and Powell, Sharper, Deabreu and Stephens all had one.

Ashley Stein started in net and played the first half, but was not called into action. Sadie Wallace played the second half and made one save, facing one shot.

Against the Kids, Bender scored the opener on a penalty shot and then Isaksson netted what proved to be the game winner off an assist by Sharper to round out the scoring. Stein finished with five saves.

In the victory at the Red Rovers, Bender was the lone goal scorer in the game and for the second game in-a-row, scored from the penalty spot. Stein made fives saves in net for the Hornets, who earned the shutout.

Emmaus was at Bethlehem Catholic this past Tuesday afternoon and hosts Freedom this Thursday night at Memorial Field. They welcome East Stroudsburg South to town on Monday night. The Hornets are one of four teams in the conference that are unbeaten.
