Lynn A. Silfies

of Macungie

Lynn A. Silfies, 66, of Macungie, died Sept. 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Arlene (Jenkins) Tracy. She was the loving wife of Donald R. Silfies for 33 years.

She was an incredibly dedicated employee of Air Products & Chemicals for 40 years. She started in 1975 while she was still in high school and spent the majority of her years working in the MRI Helium Operations group. She retired in 2015 to spend more time nurturing her beautiful gardens, seeking seashells along the Cape May shoreline and enjoying her family.

She was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, Allentown, where she was an active member of the handbell choir and loved helping with the church’s Saturday Morning Community Breakfasts. The friendships she formed as a member of their congregation were ones she held very near and dear.

She also enjoyed her time in recent years volunteering at Willow Lane Elementary School.

Above all, she absolutely loved her family; she truly was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She lived by the Golden Rule and gave so much of herself unto others. She was a beacon of kindness and love and will forever live on in our hearts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: Rachel Lukow and her husband, Pete Swavely; Kalene Birdsall and her husband, Brian, Tyler. The greatest joy in her life was being Nana to her grandchildren: Grayson, Luke, Colbie, Hazel, Riley. She is also survived by her niece, Crystal Tracy; brother, Arthur Tracy; close friends and relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Oct. 19 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A calling hour will be held 9:30-11 a.m.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
